Soviet Russian Rock Band

Зоопарк (Zoopark) was a Soviet rock band formed in the early 1980s by Mikhail "Mike" Naumenko, who was a prominent figure in the Leningrad rock scene. The band is considered one of the pioneers of Russian rock music. Zoopark's music was influenced by blues, rock and roll, and rhythm and blues. Mike Naumenko, the band's frontman, was known for his poetic lyrics and distinctive voice. The band gained popularity in the underground rock scene and played an important role in the development of Russian rock music during a time when the genre was not officially recognized by the Soviet authorities. Despite facing challenges due to government censorship and restrictions on performances, Zoopark managed to leave a lasting legacy with their contributions to Russian culture and music before disbanding in the late 1980s following Naumenko's death.
