If art is about progress, then Diana Krall is one of the most accomplished artists in jazz. When I Look In Your Eyes is another step forward for the singer and pianist. This superb album breaks away from the standard piano trio line-up of her previous two albums; several tracks on the album are accompanied by the elegant orchestration of master Johnny Mandel. When I Look In Your Eyes was produced by Tommy LiPuma, and features Krall on piano and singing with her longtime trio mate Russell Malone on guitar. Ben Wolfe and John Clayton share the bass and Jeff Hamilton and Lewis Nash take turns on drums.
